Hilltop Glassworks, Soft Opening and Open House
We are pleased to introduce Tacoma’s newest glass studio, Hilltop Glassworks. A unique shop in the heart of the vibrant Hilltop Neighborhood. This studio will offer exclusive access to premium glassblowing experiences for both the private individual and group experiences.
As with most glass studios the furnace is the central piece of equipment around which the rest of a glass shop is designed. Here at Hilltop Glassworks our furnace is unique in its provenance, being custom built for Maestro Lino Tagliapietra in 2002 by Eurovetromeccanica in Venezia Italy. Originally installed late Mongrain Glass Studio in Mukilteo Washington It is built in the traditional venetian style has served some of the worlds most notable glassblowers.
On June 16th we will open our doors for an open house featuring glassblowing demonstrations, hands on experiences refreshments and live DJ sets, the soft opening christens the new studio from 12 noon to 6pm on Sunday, June 16th.

Hilltop Glassworks is owned and operated by Oliver Doriss. Based in the Hilltop neighborhood, Doriss is a professional glassblower with over twenty years experience in the field producing work for Davide Fuin, Dale Chihuly and Donna Karan among others. Producing both studio editions and immersive installations, Doriss’ works are included in several private collections and currently on view at the Tacoma Art Museum as part of the Benaroya Collection. In addition to leading the studio, Doriss also serves as Gallery Director for Fulcrum Gallery, as Creative Director/Principal for Baby Head Cups, and as sought-after DJ for listening events across the region.
